High School Drama Students Win Speech Competitions

The Company of IHS

Congratulations to the following Ipswich High School seniors who participated in a variety of speech contests this winter. Maxwell Sorger progressed from the district to the state level of the Lions Club Speech Contest and finished second in the state. Paul Taylor took first place at the district level in the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy competition. Tara Mehalba participated in the Boston Shakespeare Competition.

Ipswich High School Students are selected to participate in MMEA's Northeastern District Music Festival

Congratulations to the following Ipswich High School music students who successfully auditioned for the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) Senior District Festival. These students competed with students from over 70 schools in the Northeastern District for spots in the chorus, band, orchestra and jazz ensemble. The three-day event culminated in a public concert on Saturday, January 7, 2012.

_High School Chamber Singers at December Concert, 2011

If you missed the December Small Ensemble Concert, here is a clip of the High School Chamber Singers performing the 16th century Spanish Christmas carol, Riu, Riu, Chiu, arranged by Noah Greenberg. The Chamber Singers are conducted by Choral Director, Jeffrey Patch. Enjoy!

* These students have also successfully auditioned for the Massachusetts All-State Festival. They will participate in a 3-day festival culminating in a concert at Boston's Symphony Hall on Saturday, March 3rd!

There, you can help plan events and learn what is happening in the classroom. Ipswich community members interested in supporting the arts are also invited.
